Another great day for Comet Tennis! It was a great team effort tonight. I'm very pleased with how we competed and the effort we gave. Ella really stole the show tonight winning a very tough match to cap off the night vs defending 4A doubles State Champ Brooklyn Mattix (Indy). It was her last match of the day and a back and forth battle. Her body was failing her as her calves and toes were cramping off and on late in the match. But she is so mentally tough due to her experience and her background in wrestling, she found a way to win. She improved to 12-0 on the season and now we turn our sights to a large tournament in Baldwin on 9/17.

We were really excited about how our team performed yesterday. We had a lot of girls playing in their first matches ever (Asha Kylen Jocelyn B and Kaylee) and everyone else playing in their first matches of the season. Jocelyn Sluder and the Chloe's were able to lead the charge in the #1 spots as the veterans of this group. This meet was a testament of our depth as we had a variety of girls from 15th-28th on our overall depth chart. Any time you can go get first place in every division, you're obviously excited about the direction of your program. Hopefully we can ride this momentum and continue to find success as the season continues.

I'm so proud of the way we competed today. This is a tough field and for us to come out on top has us really excited as a program. Ella led the way with a dominant performance! She did not give up more than 1 game in all 4 of her matches. Cummings/Marcoux dropped their first match to Indy but rallied back to win 3 in a row and lock in 1st place as a team. The next varsity tennis meet is at Labette on 9/4.
