CES Virtual Art Fair Opens

Every spring, artwork created by Chanute Elementary Studentstiki mask by fifth grader miley hock is placed on exhibit in the hallways at Chanute Elementary School. Every student at CES chooses a piece from their portfolios for the 2020 CES Art Fair.

During the first two weeks of March, judges came in and chose four pieces from each class in grades 1-5. Those pieces would have been displayed in the USD 413 Art Fair. That art fair was cancelled, due to COVID-19 and the closing of schools, but elementary art teachers Bret Rinehart and Halsey Wright have created a Virtual Art Fair of the works that would have been displayed in the USD 413 exhibit.

“This is something the kids really look forward to,” Rinehart said, “so we still wanted to find a way to recognize them and put their artwork on display.”

Starting in April, the two teachers worked together, Rinehart building a webpage for the exhbit and Wright photographing the artwork for placement on the page.

“We have designed this site so those students can get the recognition they deserve and have their artwork on display. Click the link below to view the winners from each grade level.

Congratulations to all the CES students on your amazing artwork!
