Beginning this week, students and staff at Chanute Elementary School, under the organization of the Fifth Grade Leadership Team, are participating in the Love’s Children Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising program.

Their schoolwide goal is to raise $1,750 over the next three weeks. If they do, CES Assistant Principal Eric Hoops has promised to kiss a cow. Given the success rate of the leadership team’s past fundraisers, someone had better be looking for a cow.

The fundraiser runs from September 10 - 28. The money raised will be given to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in the area. They are working in partnership with Love’s Travel Stops, which has contributed more than $25 million to Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals the last 18 years. The 170 Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals provide quality health care to millions of children through its network of hospitals, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

A portion of each dollar is designated for charitable care, life-saving equipment, research for new cures and treatments, education, special services and customized childrens’ needs.

During this fundraiser, each classroom at CES will use a gift box to collect class donations of any amount. At the end of each week, the boxes will be collected and the money counted. The classrooms have the opportunity to earn the following rewards throughout the fundraising program.

Top Class - Week 1 Winner - Extra Recess

Top Class - Week 2 Winner - PJ Day

Top Class - Week 3 Winner -Popsicle Party w/ extra recess

Overall (all three weeks combined) Class Winner - Pizza Party from Love’s

If we reach our Overall School Goal of $1750, Mr. Hoops will kiss a cow!
